Harrison Rhys

‘A voice that can’t be mimicked by mere mortals’

Harrison Rhys has been steadily growing his fan base since he began writing and recording music at just 13 years of age, over the last 5 years he has released 15 singles, an EP and his debut album is being released on the 16th February 2024. His single ‘The Real Me’ was number 1 in the Express FM chart for a total of 6 weeks, breaking the record for the longest time at the top of the chart plus ‘What If I’ was the no 1 single of 2021. He was also a finalist in the UK & International Songwriting Contest, receiving a 5* (professional standard) rating for his original tracks Everything I Do, The Real Me, No Regrets, Nothing To Say, Don’t Look Back and What If I.

Harrison now gigs weekly around Hampshire mainly but has recently branched out to perform in all parts of the country, either as a soloist or as part of his 5 piece band The Harrison Rhys Band. The Harrison Rhys Band recently sold out their own show at The Edge of the Wedge, Wedgewood Rooms, Southsea, headlined at Live at The Bandstand, Southsea in June, played at Victorious and will be performing at Harrison’s album launch in February.

Growing up in Portsmouth, UK, a waterfront city on England’s south coast, the young musician discovered he had a passion for the acoustic guitar and he further refined his skills with tuition from well-known local artist, Alistair Goodwin and Jamie Moses (SAS Band/Queen/Los Pacaminos).

Harrison’s ability to write, perform and diversify has helped open doors and has resulted in him having great success in the local music scene. The title single from his EP ‘The Real Me’ is a plea for others to be transparent and accept people for who they really are. His music continues to explore themes that are not only relevant and relatable, but he also draws on real-life experiences.

2020 was a year of new direction for Harrison, experimenting with different ways to showcase his music. Previously performing at local venues and festivals around the UK, including a 3-year slot at Victorious Festival, he’s adapted to challenging times. During lockdown, Harrison performed live gigs from home for fans, totalling over a thousand streams per video. In partnership with ChartHouse Studios he continued writing and recording more of his own music. This lead to the release of ‘Darkness’, a single about mental health issues. With all the proceeds being donated to Solent Mind Charity, the track was featured on BBC South Today and BBC Radio Solent.

In January 2021 Harrison released his debut EP: ‘The Real Me’ and since then he has featured on BBC Music Introducing Solent, BBC Radio Leicester and many local stations around the South.  In 2021 he embarked on his first South Coast tour then headlined at the Gaiety Bar and Portsmouth Guildhall Studio. His biggest opportunity to date was supporting The Lottery Winners at Portsmouth Guildhall.
